I Have a Dream

I have a dream. Ah, who am I kidding? I have a bunch of dreams. Echo back to the last blog – Dreams Don’t Cost Anything (as I always say).
One of my dreams is to write a book. About what, you may ask. Good question. (One of the many reasons I haven't written a book.)
So the title of my blog is Tube Tops and Turtlenecks and that is where my dream began… sort of.
I found a greeting card many moons ago and for the life of me I don’t know where I bought it OR what has happened to it. But the picture on it was a painting of a woman. It was a comical image, a woman with a big hat on and she was wearing a tubetop (which mostly covered her ample bosom). This, I thought to myself, is what I will put on the cover of the book I am going to write someday. (The picture below is NOT the amply busted woman from my card!)
Why? Because the tube top is a wonderful thing. It reckons me back to a day where I had dreams of being a cowgirl, a teacher for the deaf, or a singer. It brings back memories of Barbies, swimming pools, Woolco, swings, Charlie’s Angels, Bionic Woman and more. A time where thoughts were simpler and worries less.
I even found the person who painted it and asked if they would do it for me and, unfortunately, they were unable (not that there was book to have a cover for!). But, now, I know who I will commission to paint me a cover. (Secrets. Secrets. I got a Secret – for those of you 70-80’s brats – remember Kilroy? I had to play it and share it with you.
So I have a cover planned. Pretty sure the cover is the last thing most authors come up with!! Oh well. Never wanted to be the same as everyone else.
So back to tube tops and turtlenecks. What is the story behind them? That is what I would like to write about. Unfortunately, for you, this is where it ends for today. I actually am on security shift at the church so I need to go and secure.
Those old enough to have lived their youth through the 70-80’s, dream a little about the memories you made in that decade. Good and bad. Think about the toys you played with, the friends you made and the music you listened to. Till I get a chance to share again – DREAM!
